What is meant by hazardous area classification?
The hazardous area classification is a method that analyzes and classifies the environment where there is the presence of explosive gases. The main purpose of the classification is to facilitate the selection and installation of safety devices and equipment that will be safe for operation in the area, considering the properties of the flammable materials that will be present there. The analysis also includes the study of any non-electrical sources of ignition including mobile equipment that could create a risk.
The hazardous area classification is Zone 0, Zone 1 and Zone 2 depending on the level of the gaseous state of the environment and the risks of any fire outbreak.
